If you've been wondering what all this #GirlsNightOut business is all about, then this article should get you pretty caught up on all things #GNO. For anyone new to #GirlsNightOut the concept and conception for the event is kind of a funny story. Back in 2015 I was let go from my corporate job after the company decided to sell to a competitor. At that point, I decided to fully commit all my time and resources into making MsIndependent a successful business. To go in with a bang, I decided to launch a brand awareness event to introduce MsIndependent and hopefully create some buzz around what we do. So....suprise, suprise I hosted a girls night out event. The idea came from the now non-extinct brand Shecky's, that use to host girls night out events across the country. I attended year after year critiquing what I would do, and how I would design the event differently, and now I had the perfect opportunity to make it happen. The (#) was added to girls night out because the event would appeal to our digital show and tell world of social sharing . Three years later this Thursday's #GirlsNightOut event will be our 5th event, and 3rd theme for the #GNO series.
Our Avant-Garde theme was inspired by all the art walls I've seen in Houston and across the country. I'm fascinated with the desire to spread art to every corner, block, and really any place where naked bricks stand in need of dressing. Art is all around us, in many forms and so I wanted to give creatives a space to do what they do best, and give our audience an opportunity to do what they also do best, snap, share, tag, and spread the word. Here is what guests can expect at our July 12th, #GirlsNightOut Avant-Garde Event.
The Space HTX offers a white-on-white industrial warehouse that provides the perfect blank canvas for our event art installations, color, and creativity. We will be using this space wisely. :)
We have a number of art installations set up for photos, but there will also be art in the air, on the walls, and being worn. Houston designers and artists come in many forms and we've compiled a wide array of these brillant creatives to show you ladies the kind of talent Houston has to offer.
