MsIndependent's signature event #GirlsNightOut is back and this time, we're bringing unicorns! Anyone who has swiped through a feed on a visual platform like Instagram, Pinterest, and even Facebook, can see that Unicorns are trending. Even Starbucks has jumped on the bandwagon with their unicorn frappuccino. Everyone loves to take photos and selfies at events these days, so #GirlsNightOut was created to cater to the need to share, see and be seen. Quite naturally an event based on social sharing and eye candy just had to include the unicorn trend, so that's what we did. Our guests will be over the rainbow about this event, and here are all the magical reasons why.
Our food sponsor for the event is Verts Meditterranean Grill, one of my new favorite places to eat in Houston. They offer award-winning, chef-inspired Mediterranean food, and seasonal menu that ensures quality ingredients. I've been to Verts a number of times and absolutely love their selection and fantastic flavors. Seasoning is everything and they nail it in every dish! Another flavor explosion that I can't get enough of these days is Dry Sparkling water, our beverage sponsor. Guests are in for the cutest cocktails made with their lavender and blood orange flavors. Icon Bartenders and Waitstaff is back this year to offer an all girl cast of bartenders.
The backdrop for #GirlsNightOut is set in the Sky Lounge at 2929 Weslayan. This upscale luxury apartment offers the eye the furthest reach of the Houston skyline, in a bright and airy upscale space. If you love it enough apartments are open for lease so you can live the high life 24/7.
It wouldn't be possible to have a fabulous and fun event all about social media without including some of Houston's finest social influencers. These local bloggers will be designing displays using our sponsors goodies, as our guests snap Instagram worthy pics and share them online, for a chance to win a number of giveaway prizes. We've all seen those carefully curated flatlay displays on Instagram, now you can see them live and in person.

What's a unicorn themed event without decorative desserts? I am over the rainbow excited that Crumble and Co, owned by Angel Ozaeta, will be sponsoring Oreo Gems for the event. Her intricately decorated desserts are beyond belief, and are simply a must if you ever want to wow your guests at a party. Jordan of Hangry in Houston is also sponsoring champagne cake pops that are almost too cute to twice as delicious. Bonjour Brigadeiro will also be on deck serving up homemade Brazilian Brigadeiros. These chocolate truffle-like candies are made by the skilled hands of another girl boss, Livia Orlandin Salinas who will also be a vendor. To round up this dream team of desserts, Wink by Erica is supplying the unicorn themed macaroons, and Rachel of Legally Sweet Treats & Confections is offering unicorn inspired cookies. We can't host events like #GNO without the support of sponsors like PostVu. This user-friendly app has a drag and drop mobile application that allows the user's overall color scheme to remain consistent throughout their posts. Users have the ability to enhance their profile by planning, previewing, and editing images prior to posting. This makes creating an Instagram story a dream for bloggers, influencers, businesses, or anyone that takes "the gram" seriously.
Guests will have the opportunity to participate in drawings throughout the evening to win various prizes donated by our sponsors. To enter all they'll need to do is snap a photo of the flatlay display created by one of our bloggers, share the image online and tag the sponsor and blogger that designed the display, and that's it! Winners will be chosen at random.
A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Interfaith Ministries’ Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston program. This initiative provides home-delivered meals to disabled adults and home bound clients over 60 years of age. The program also delivers weekend meals and a week’s worth of breakfast to over 1,100 of frail and isolated clients. This nutritional support helps people stay independent and in their own homes.
