This week has been a week all about style and fashion. Wednesday was a Fashion blogger event put on by Communication Studios that involved some pretty trendy stores and boutiques in City Centre. We started the night off at Straits where we dined on Singapore Satay Sticks, Roti Prata (crisp Indian Flatbread), Straits fries, Samosas, and my favorite Chicken Lollipops with a chili glaze. Bloggers got a drink ticket to order at the bar, but everyone was able to taste some of the ready-made shots by Liqs Cocktails. I put one in my purse for the road...no it's not weird.
The event drew in a vast assortment of fashion bloggers, as you could tell by the creative outfits and everyone greeted each other with “hi my name is _____, and what's the name of your blog?" It's like a networking event but way more stylish and fun. All the bloggers were then introduced to the lady of the hour KHOU Channel 11's very own Katherine Whaley, who set us out to do some shopping. We had a map of all the City Centre shops offering discounts or complimentary items to bloggers that attended the event, which included Kendra Scott, Bevello, Elaine Turner, Lululemon, Charming Charlie, and Fashion Truck Collection.

Not only did many of the stores offer complimentary items like earrings from Charming Charlie or a Vinyasa scarf from Lululemon, we were also treated to wine, champagne, macaroons, and cupcakes. It was a great evening, but the fun wasn't over yet, and frankly I almost forget why I was in City Centre to begin with- The HubDot event. The event was held in Anthropologie, and started at 8:30pm. Upon walking through the doors and seeing a swarm of woman chatting and some looking lost, I spotted a table with wine, another with San Pellegrino Water, and servers floating about the room with hors d'oeuvres. Never have I had so much free booze and food all in one night. The concept of HubDot is that women join together and wear color coded dots that represent something about themselves, to help them connect with other "dots" in the room. We heard some inspirational stories, networked, and heard more about how HubDot got started which you can read about here.
It was a fabulous night, a pleasant surprise for a Wednesday, and only part 1 of fashion focused week. More to come in our next post.
