Seventeen More Pounds To Go

I started the year at 158lbs, and as of today I weight......(drum roll please)..... 155lbs! With my new work schedule I haven't been to the gym, but I credit my weight loss to my diet. When I say diet I don't mean it like a bad 4-letter word diet, I mean the what I eat. I have a bad habit of undereating, and that's something I have vowed to get a handle on in the new year. I am the worst at forgetting to eat, or losing interest in eating mid-bite. Seriously I've been hungry but too lazy to chew and just decide to have a latte instead of lunch. No bueno. I have to sneak food in wherever I can, which means I have to be prepared. Here are some of the meals I've been making that I credit to my recent progress.

Homemade Parfaits with high protein granola and topped with either blueberries, pumpkin seeds or almond slivers.

Kale salad with garbanzo beans, red cabbage, red bell peppers, celery, carrots, cucumber, and of course kale. I used italian dressing but you can use anything really.

I eat salmon probably 2-3 times a week. This beauty is a wild caught sockeye fillet from Whole Foods that I broiled and topped with fresh dill, pepper, sea salt, red peppers, olive oil and lemon.

Although I do enjoy eating clean, I am human and hate to feel deprived. Honestly though, if you eat well 80% of the time or better, you don't need to count calories. Think about it, when was the last time you couldn't fit into your jeans from over indulging on a salad?  I do however watch the frequency with which I eat and drink anything loaded with sugar, salt, or processed crap. So while I casually eat whatever I want as long as I made it with wellness in mind, I do enjoy food and drinks like the ones below in moderation.

I am an Ol' Fashioned kinda girl. Whiskey is my weakness.

Two words....Torchy's Tacos! Enough said.

It was Friday so naturally I had to start the weekend with a margarita.

I pretty much drink my empty calories, so I always watch my food intake on those days. Long term success on any fitness program depends on your ability to be consistent. I can't consistently never have a drink anymore than I can consistently only eat veggies and salmon every week. So far I think I'm on the right track, but we shall see when I weight myself in another 2 weeks. In the meantime the plan is to start hitting the weights again and add yoga and Pilates into my regimen for balance and flexibility.
